AMHERST, N.Y. – èƵ College sophomore students celebrated completing their second year at the college’s inaugural Sophomore Social hosted by President Gary A. Olson on April 7 at èƵ House, the presidential residence.

“This event is an important part of our new Sophomore Year Experience Program to provide opportunities for second-year students to engage with èƵ throughout the year to help foster success and to keep them on the path to graduation,” said Olson. “It was a pleasure to recognize their sophomore year achievements in and outside the classroom and to show our support for their college goals.”

More than 50 students were joined by faculty and staff at the Sophomore Social, where they also had the chance to reconnect with their first-year orientation leaders. Attendees received a special gift in remembrance of the event and in recognition of their accomplishments as they finish their second year of studies at èƵ.

“Beyond improving student retention, events like this reinforce to students that èƵ is their second home, and numerous resources are in place at the college to help them be successful now and long after they graduate,” said Dr. Greg Nayor, vice president for student affairs.
