AMHERST, N.Y. – èƵ College opened its new Graduate Studies Technology Center (GSTC), a part of a major effort to advance technology infrastructure for the college’s growing graduate programs, at a celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Feb. 1.

As part of the opening celebration, State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer was honored for his efforts in obtaining $480,000 in funding for èƵ’s Graduate Studies Technology Initiative.

“At a time when private colleges like èƵ face historic financial challenges, the $480,000 grant that Senator Ranzenhofer was able to obtain for us will add to the portfolio of cutting-edge resources that we provide for our graduate students,” said èƵ President Gary Olson. “These resources will continue to make èƵ a hub for some of the most innovative graduate programs in New York State.”

In addition to the GSTC, the state grant has been used for several other key improvement projects, including renovation of a graduate distance learning lab/classroom used by èƵ’s graduate nursing program and other graduate program faculty and students, and reconstruction of the college’s main server to enhance technology resources for graduate programs across campus.

The grant also provided support for a new state-of-the art graduate studies technology lecture hall in the college’s Research and Information Commons, and permanent fiber and network upgrades to existing technology infrastructure in the primary graduate student academic buildings.

“I am truly honored to be recognized by èƵ and excited to see this initiative come to fruition,” said Ranzenhofer. “The academic technology projects and improvements that have resulted from this funding are impressive and will help to enrich the first-class education graduate students receive at èƵ.”
